Private Music Lessons for Piano, Drums, and Guitar
Joe Farren, a 2004 graduate of the University of Southern Maine’s School of Music, has been teaching for nine years both privately and in local school systems. Joe has studied Piano, Guitar, Drums and Voice. He composes his own music and strives for a balance between performing, teaching and writing. Through his studies at the University and his experience performing in musical theater and numerous rock, blues and jazz bands, Joe has gained a thorough knowledge of music fundamentals and theory. Also, as a solo singer-songwriter playing an average of 150 gigs a year, he has gained a wealth of professional performance experience. Over the summer of 2007 Joe released a second full length album of his own material. The album titled ‘Til The Day has garnered positive reviews in the local music scene and is currently receiving both local and national radio play. In teaching music, Joe’s approach is to instill the fundamentals while incorporating popular music into the standard repertoire. Lesson plans are tailored to the individual students own tastes using classic methods of training along with encouragement and instruction to play by ear. Having a good time and studying all styles and genres of music is always encouraged.
Joe travels to the homes of his students. Half hour, 45 minute and 1 hour lessons are offered. To contact Joe, please call (207) 318-4547 or email: joe@joefarren.com
An annual student recital is held each spring featuring a versatile program, from classical repertoire to contemporary rock and roll. Students at all levels perform solo while some also play in combos Joe puts together for this event.
